Inspire

The Qosain Scientific partners closely with the Khwarizmi Science Society, helping the Society in its not-for-profit outreach and science education movements. In this endeavor, the Qosain Scientific specializes in building new instruments gadgets, and museum scale articles to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The culmination of these awe-inspiring articles takes place through the multiple science shows and science melas organized by KSS, culminating in the now biennial Lahore Science Mela that attracts tends of thousands of people—students, citizens, amateurs, professionals and experts, all alike.

Qosain Scientific articles adorn the Surpriseum that is the makeshift science museum established at the Lahore Science Mela. These articles are now available for adoption and purchase. Please ask us if you have specific requirements or would like us to build something for you.

Surpriseum

Physical phenomena are the mainstay of KSS’s and Qosain Scientific’s isnpirational retinue. Pendulums, wave machines, relativity contraptions, simulated black holes and gravitational waves, demonstrations around sound, music, fire, light, collisions, speed and forces, equilibrium, fluids, viscosity, and numerous other physical phenomena adorn the Surpriseum and are all made by a team comprising fabricators from KSS and Qosain Scientific. Imagine a chain of dominos, in which a minuscule chip is able to dislodge a huge black; imagine a swing made of paper that can sustain a heavy indidivual with utmost easy; consider oobleck and other sticky fluids that change their properties when forces of varying degrees are applied and the list goes on and on.

Planetarium

Imagine a dome where stars swirl above you, planets drift by, and galaxies unfold before your eyes. Khalai Kachwa (خلائی کچھوا), a mobile planetarium by the Khwarizmi Science Society, offers this immersive cosmic journey—anywhere, anytime.

With a 4.5-meter orange dome and cutting-edge projection technology, it transforms classrooms, festivals, and open grounds into awe-inspiring learning spaces. Since 2022, it has been traveling across Pakistan, igniting curiosity and bringing the universe closer to thousands.

You can learn more about the planetarium on this dedicated website

Augmented Reality

Explaining the mysteries of the quantum world to the public is no easy feat. These phenomena are often abstract, counterintuitive, and invisible to the naked eye. To bridge this gap, we’ve created immersive, augmented reality-based experiences that combine storytelling with interactivity. Our two stations — the LHC Interactive Tunnel and LIT-Disco (LIT-Discovery) — help visualize and explore the strange and fascinating behaviours of quantum mechanics, turning complex science into an engaging, hands-on journey of discovery.

Further details can be explored on this dedicated website.

Dark Room

We have built the Dark Room (ظلمت کدہ) which houses riveting demonstrations related to optics and light such as powerful lasers that can ablate elastic material, demonstrations on interference and diffraction typified by fringes and the Poisson spot, a laser spirometer, Schlieren photography, action of lenses and optical media on light, the bending of light as it passes through mediums of varying density and hence refractive index.

Chemical Realities

In the world of chemistry, children were captivated by dramatic experiments that revealed the surprising and sometimes explosive reactions of everyday substances. From colorful separations and bubbling mixtures to reactions that produced heat, motion, or sudden changes of state, these hands-on activities showcased the energy and excitement hidden in chemical processes. Such demonstrations transformed abstract concepts into memorable experiences, sparking curiosity about how invisible changes at the molecular level can create powerful effects we see, hear, and feel.

Life Itself

From the rhythmic beat of a frog’s heart to the secrets locked within DNA, science reveals the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary.

In the Surpriseum, children and communities engage in hands-on experiments: extracting DNA, observing the science behind everyday processes like making chapati, and uncovering how plants “see” light. Whether it’s exploring the inner kitchen of a leaf or decoding heart signals, each activity invites us to see the living world in new and exciting ways—bridging the gap between science and society, one discovery at a time.

The Mind and the Eye

Complementary to optics, are stunning visual illusions that play with the visual perception and mental cognition, when optics and the mind meet. Invisibility cloaks, the Ames room, infinity tunnels are part of this fadcinating repertoire of optical experiments.

Therefore, step into the world of optical illusions and light magic. Experience the endless depth of the infinite mirror, discover how invisibility can be achieved using special lenses, and watch images come to life with holography. These exhibits reveal how light can trick, reveal, and transform what we see.

Movement

Experience the magic of movement, sound, and flow through captivating setups that reveal the secrets of physics. Observe how tension, gravity, friction, and waves work together to create mesmerizing effects. These interactive demonstrations transform everyday materials into gateways for discovery—where science feels like art in motion.

Materials

Explore the unseen forces that shape our world. Witness how the Earth holds deep secrets beneath its surface, how a flicker of flame and a surge of energy can recreate nature’s rawest power, and how strength and fragility are tested when force meets resistance. These demonstrations reveal surprising truths behind everyday elements and materials, sparking curiosity about the natural laws that govern them. An important class of materials are non-Newtonian fluids, oobleck, toothpaste, ketchup. Qosain Scientific can also fabricate your high-temperature superconductors and magnets.

Earth

A whole gallery of materials, rocks, minerals, gemstones, resplendent in varying wavelengths and colors of light, decorate the Surpriseum.

Workshop

This workshop aims to introduce kids to the captivating world of machine making. Participants learn about the ingenious devices of Al-Jazari (a visionary inventor) from both a historical and technological perspective and the intricate mechanisms and engineering principles behind his devices. Participants recreate Al-Jazari’s remarkable inventions through hands-on sessions and gain practical skills in assembling and operating replicas of his machines.

High Voltage

One section of the Surpriseum deals with high voltages: the Lichtenberg patterns are made when wood is exposed to pointed electrodes connected to a high voltage supply, the Tesla coil synthesizes loud and attractive bursts of electrifying fun and high voltages superposed on metallic balls dispersed in a liquid all move together in a coordinated dance.

The Van de Graaff Generator is a show stopper as it generates extremely high voltages. This potent energy can then be unleashed in dramatic sparks, electrifying hair, causing objects to dance in mid-air, and even powering early particle accelerators.

The Cold, Cold World

As we cool objects, their properties change. The KSS-QS teams develop superconductors that rise above the ground as they are cooled inside a magnetic field, liquid nitrogen does not fail to inspire in its own right. The Leidenfrost effect enables one to make liquid oxygen with its mind baffling magnetic properties.

The Small, Small World

Digitally connected microscopes allow us to peer into the microscopic world—unveiling cells, crystals, and insects in breathtaking detail. These explorations awaken curiosity and a profound respect for the complexity of life.

The Skies Above

Step into the cosmos with live glimpses of solar wonders and starry realms. From sunspots to distant nebulae, experience the universe up close with the help of passionate sky-watchers.

Qosain Scientific also has the ability to decorate your own workspaces with befitting interior decor such as giant molecular structures, robots, walk-in crystals, molded sculptures of animals and can help you build your own science museum!
